Delta Delta Delta Raises Money for St. Jude
This past semester our chapter has been extremely busy. Our spring recruitment went very well this year we got a total of 8 new girls! This year during Greek week we won our 8th straight title in Greek sing, overall we placed 2nd in Greek week which was such a huge accomplishment for our chapter. Two weeks ago we had our annual Delta house of pancakes where we raised money for our partnership with St. Jude children's research hospital. The total amount raised came out to be 3,807.78 which is the most money we have ever raised during DHOP. Throughout the year our chapter has raised a total of $12,711. In all we are so happy with how hard our chapter has been working and can't wait for the next semester.
Kappa Delta Hosts Shamrock
Every year we have our philanthropy called Shamrock. We raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America and the local Advocacy Center in Charleston.
Shamrock is a three day event we held on March 1 to the 3. We invited all sororities and fraternities to participate and some Registered SOs. The first day of our three day event was a Carnival for the Kids. All the teams participating had a table with a game and families in the community came to play and win prizes. It was amazing to see all the children come and get to be around the college students. The second pay was a paint dodgeball competition. The teams came out to the Sigma Kappa fields where were prepared to get squirted with green paint by all the Kappa Deltas. The last day of our three day event was a Shamrock N’ Roll dance competition between the fraternities. The overall winners were Lambda Chi Alpha and Sigma Kappa. Our event was a complete success we raised money to send to PCAA and raised $2,160 to give to the local advocacy center.
Alpha Phi Wins Greek Week
This semester has been a very hectic one for us, as I'm sure it has been for everyone else as well. We started off with Spring Recruitment where we added two new and wonderful girls into our house. Shortly after we held our annual Red Dress Gala where we raised close to $7,000 for the Alpha Phi Foundation! That was truly an accomplishment within itself to raise such a tremendous amount of money for such a great cause. Not to mention it's our favorite time of the year because we are able to share with our families and newest members just how special Red Dress Gala is and what it can do for others. Come March we held our last philanthropy event of the semester, Hoops for Heart! This year we had an amazing turn out with 21 teams signed up, the most teams we have ever had! We were all so blessed to have such a large amount of teams and really see the Greek Community come together. Lastly, Alpha Phi was able to end the Spring semester with a Greek Week win! Our sisters trained very hard in every major event, and it paid off. Alpha Phi took 1st in Airband, 1st in Pyramids, 2nd in Greek Sing, and 3rd in Tugs! As a house, we could not be more proud of our sisters for the hard work and dedication they put in to making this one of the best semesters to date, and we look forward to what next year has to offer.
Alpha Sigma Tau Hosts Semi-Formal
It has been an exciting couple of weeks here at the Beta Pi chapter! We had tons of fun during Greek Week! Our Airband, Tugs, and Pyramids girls did a wonderful job after all of their hard work and we placed third in Greek Sing! We also had a great Parents Weekend and loved our red-carpet themed semi-formal! As of currently, we are preparing for finals and readying ourselves for summer break!
Alpha Gamma Delta Sets New Record
Spring semester is always a busy, yet rewarding semester. To start off, we initiated four beautiful women into our sisterhood from spring recruitment! During Greek Weel we broke our own record as a chapter in both Airband and tugs. We placed third in Airband and won our first tug in several years. For Relay for Life, our chapter raised $2,650. We also held our Parents Weekend at the Unique Hotel which included a dinner and live auction with all proceeds going to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. Because of this event we raised and donated around $5,500! We are proud to announce that we not only improved our fall GPA but ended with a 3.35 which put us 1st in grades for the spring semester. Along with this, two of our sisters were named fraternity sweethearts for both Sigma Pi and Delta Tau Delta. All semester we had sisters take positionsin honors fraternities, and organizations around campus and we couldn't be more pround of their accomplishments.
